We never steered away from our sustainability goals. In Our 2020 Report we reported our performance and shared our progress against 2020 targets. We have set new SMART and ambitious goals towards 2030 and revised our mid- and long-term targets. In order to respond the challenges brought by COVID-19 during 2020, we strengthened our In Touch Technology framework to better respond to current developments.
We commit to achieve net zero emissions across our value chain by 2050.
We became Carbon-neutral
We became carbon-neutral in our global manufacturing plants (Scope 1 and Scope 2) in 2019 and 2020 with our own carbon credit generated through the Energy Efficient Refrigerators Carbon Financing Project implemented in Turkey, which was verified by a third party in compliance with the Verified Carbon Standard.
Our targets to reduce GHG emissions were approved by the Science Based Targets initiative
These are set in line with the Paris Agreement’s goal of limiting global temperature increase to "well-below 2°C" for Scope 1 and 2 emissions and position us among the 700+ companies worldwide. We have made a commitment to reduce our absolute Scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions by 30% and our absolute Scope 3 emissions from the use of our sold products by 15% by 2030 from a 2018 base year. To achieve our goals and retain our position as a leader, we will continue investing in energy efficiency, green electricity purchases and renewable energy systems.
Within the scope of our sustainability agenda, we focus on the future, the environment, and the needs of people and our business. We believe that we must go beyond our current habits and behavior models, the way we think now, and everything that is thought to be impossible today. We design, build and live the future, today. We design technologies that will improve the future.
Our Sustainability Vision
At Arçelik, we embed sustainability at the core of our business strategy and adopt Respecting the World, Respected Worldwide approach which enables us to create value for all our stakeholders. We take concrete steps today towards a more sustainable future with the help of the #technology we develop to improve the planet, life, and our business.
New Energy Labels
As of March 1st, our dishwashers, washing machines, washer-dryers, refrigerators and electronic displays are now graded using the new, simpler A to G scale. The improved grading system takes into account real-life customer behaviour and has removed the A+, A++ and A+++ levels - making it easier for consumers to recognize the best performing products.
In Touch Technology strategy shows our ambition to create smart technologies that are in touch with the needs of the planet and society.
Our purpose-driven business model and our commitment are being recognized in global platforms.
