Arçelik A.Ş., the patent champion in Turkey, was awarded the Patent Leadership Award at Turkey Innovation Week, which this year was held for the sixth time by the Turkish Exporters Assembly. Levent Çakıroğlu, the CEO of Koç Holding, accepted the award on behalf of Arçelik A.Ş.

Once again, Arçelik A.Ş. supported Turkey Innovation Week – which was held at the Istanbul Congress Centre from December 6 to 9 and hosted by the Turkish Exporters Assembly – as a strategic partner. Arçelik A.Ş., Turkey’s patent champion which adds to its success every year with national and international awards, was deemed worthy of the Patent Leadership Award this year. Levent Çakıroğlu, the CEO of Koç Holding, received the award from Nihat Zeybekçi, the Minister of Economy.

Arçelik A.Ş., which holds the most patent applications in Turkey, ranks 74th among 270 companies on the Global Patent Filings list published in 2017 by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), an agency of the United Nations. Filing patents to secure original technologies in all products it develops, Arçelik A.Ş. owns one out of every three global patent applications submitted from Turkey to the World Intellectual Property Organization.

Arçelik A.Ş. was also selected and rewarded as the top company in the Turkish Patent League by the Turkish Patent and Trademark office in 2016.

Arçelik A.Ş., with a total of 14 R&D and design centres and over 1,300 R&D employees both in Turkey and overseas, has patented more than three thousand inventions. Expanding its ecosystem by reinforcing international collaborations through R&D centres in Cambridge (UK), Taiwan, Portugal, and Boston (where leading universities including MIT and Harvard are located), the company aims to build closer relationships with universities, institutes and startups.
