Arcelik A. S. (“The Company” or “we” or “us”) registered with the Istanbul Trade Registry at Karaağaç Caddesi No: 2/6 Beyoğlu Istanbul with registration number 54957, acting under its capacity as controller of personal data, will use the personal data we collect about you in the registratoin and fulfilment process of „Ideathon” event in compliance with applicable privacy and data protection laws, such as the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). 

 

Types of Personal Data Collected

We may collect personal data relating to you when you submit your data to us or apply for a „Ideathon” via an online registration form. 

The personal data we collect and use about you consists of the following types of data:

  • Personal details (such as name, first name, last name, email address, country where you are located, your time zone and legal entity in which you work as well as your department and job title);

  • Information about what motivates you to participate in the Ideathon event;

  • Your opinion on key sustainability challenges or issues facing Arcelik in the workplace;

  • Any other information you provide to us voluntarily. 

We hope that all those who send in their applications will have the opportunity to participate in this event. However, if for technical reasons we have to limit the number of people taking part in the event, candidates for participation will be selected on the basis of the responses they send, including in particular their motivation for taking part.

Purposes and Legal Basis for Processing Personal Data

The personal data that we process relating to you will be used by the Company for the purpose of:

  • Consent: This is when you give us permission to collect and process your data for a specific purpose. For example, in the case of the Ideathon, this is consent to process the data of candidates and participants for the purpose fulfillment of the Ideathon. Giving consent to process data is voluntary but necessary for the fulfillment of the specified purposes indicated in the content of the consent.

  • Legally legitimate interests: We may process your personal data when it is necessary for our legitimate interests as a company, where this is not overridden by your data protection interests and fundamental rights. The controller's legitimate interest in processing the data of potential Ideathon participants is the implementation of initiatives aimed at activating Arcelik Group employees through their participation in events organized by the aforementioned entity and the development of an inclusive approach to sustainability in the Group, to the extent of activities undertaken prior to granting consent (i.e. sending information about the event together with the registration form). 

If you provide us with the personal data of third parties (such as information relating to your team), you must ensure that you notify the relevant third party before sharing their personal data with us by showing them this Privacy Statement, explaining that their personal data will be processed in accordance with this Privacy Statement, and obtaining their consent, where appropriate.

Sharing of Personal Data

For the purposes set out above, we may share your personal data with other parties. The recipients of your personal data may include:

  • Service providers.  The Company may entrust your personal data to companies that provide services to us and act as data processors in connection with the registration process, such as IT providers for the purposes of system development and technical support. The service providers are required to keep your personal data confidential and are not permitted to use the personal data for any other purpose than to carry out the services they are performing for us.

  • Third parties where required by law.  We may disclose your personal data to a third party if it is necessary to comply with a legal obligation or the decision of a judicial authority, a public authority or a government body, or if disclosure is necessary for national security, law enforcement or other issues of important public interest.

  • Other third parties with your consent.  We may also share your personal data with other third parties when you consent to such sharing.

International Transfers of Personal Data

Arcelik is located outside of the European Economic Area (the “EEA”) and will adopt safeguards to ensure that the data will be afforded the same level of protection as under the GDPR, including the standard contractual clauses adopted by the European Commission, where appropriate. You can obtain a copy of these clauses by contacting us via the information found in the “Contact Information” section. 

Data Retention

We will only keep your personal data for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes set out in this privacy notice and in accordance with the GDPR.

What are Your Rights as Data Subject? 

You have the following rights with respect to your Personal Data that we process, subject to conditions set out in applicable law:

  • to learn whether your Personal Data is processed by us and to request a copy of your Personal Data and information relating to the processing of your Personal Data, including the purposes of processing your Personal Data, and the third parties to whom your Personal Data is disclosed;

  • to request the correction of any inaccurate or incomplete Personal Data;

  • to request the erasure of your Personal Data or the restriction of the processing of your Personal Data in accordance with applicable law;

  • to object to our processing of your Personal Data;

  • to withdraw any consent you have given (the withdrawal of consent will not affect the lawfulness of the processing carried out on the basis of the consent up to the time of withdrawal);

  • under certain circumstances to demand data portability;

  • to lodge a complaint with the applicable data protection supervisory authority; and

  • to contest certain automated decisions, we make about you that have legal or otherwise similarly-significant consequences. We do not typically carry out such automated decision making but, if we do, we will make it clear where such decisions are being made.
